On November 3rd, Mentor Y.O.U.th mentors were invited to the Mighty Twig for an evening of food, games, and good company. The gathering was a mix of novice and experienced mentors; everyone was excited to meet other members of the Mentor Y.O.U.th mentoring team.
In addition to fun and games, Rachel, an experienced youth development practitioner and mentor, gave an insightful presentation on building strong mentoring relationships. She also shared ideas for fun activities between mentors. Following her presentation, the group participated in candid discussions about the challenges and successes of mentoring. The evening also provided an opportunity for newer mentors to question our senior mentors. It was a great learning opportunity for everyone, including the Y.O.U. staff. The highlight of the evening was when Y.O.U. staff were able to thank six individual mentors for their service and commitment to their mentees. These six mentors have been mentoring for over six months and have played a large role in shaping the Mentor Y.O.U.th program. Y.O.U. extends a special “thank you” to the Mighty Twig for hosting this event.
