The Don Baker Circle for Youth is a special giving society established to recognize supporters who make leadership contributions to Y.O.U. Individuals join the Circle with a contribution of $1,000 or more to Y.O.U.’s annual fund. Circle members both change lives directly through their philanthropy, as well as inspire others to give generously.

A core goal of the Don Baker Circle for Youth is to provide leadership donors with meaningful opportunities to engage with Y.O.U.’s work and with the caring donors who make our work possible. Benefits of Circle membership include:

  • Circle for Youth Reception: Each year, Y.O.U. hosts a special reception to thank Circle members for their support and to provide a strategic update to its most generous investors. This year, Y.O.U. held its reception at Found Kitchen & Social House where over 100 Circle members enjoyed specialized drinks, delicious food, and great company.

Circle members can look forward to the 2014 Don Baker Circle for Youth Reception hosted at the home of Chuck Lewis & Penny Sebring. The event will take place on Oct. 6, 2014 and will feature remarks by NU President Morton Schapiro.
  • Site Visits: We schedule site visits on an ongoing basis for Circle members. On a site visit, you have the opportunity to witness our afterschool and summer programs firsthand, seeing the transformative relationships we build with our youth.

  • Lunch with a Staff Member: We are always eager to connect our donors to our greatest asset – our staff. We arrange ongoing opportunities for Circle members to have lunch with a staff member in their area of interest to better understand the work we do at the “ground level.”

  • Learning Events: We host ongoing learning events on youth development, and we always invite our Circle members to join us for these special occasions to reflect on best practices and innovations in the education and youth services fields.
  • Special Summer Gathering: Each year, Y.O.U. hosts a Summer Showcase, which is a wonderful opportunity to interact with our kids, be inspired by their summer projects, and see the impact of our work. Following the showcase, we will be inviting our Circle members to join us for an exclusive reception, as we raise a glass to toast a successful summer. The Don Baker Circle for Youth is named in honor of Y.O.U.'s visionary founding director, Don Baker. Don led the organizations for 40 years until his retirement in 2011, and was instrumental in providing essential services to improve the academic, social and emotional health of youth in our community.
