Family Support ServicesParental support:
Monthly potlucks at all Y.O.U. sites feature family activities or parent education programs offered in collaboration with Peer Services, Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4), and other partner agencies. Our staff also works one-on-one with all parents of youth participants through an initial conference, regular phone and face-to-face contact, and periodic home visits. Crisis intervention:
Y.O.U. responds 24 hours a day when a child runs away or has been locked out. These intense family situations often involve emotional and/or physical abuse. Crisis workers have to make quick decisions that protect youth and facilitate family stability. The workers intervene and use the crisis to involve the family in a process that promotes growth and lasting change. This process continues past the crisis through the provision of individual and family counseling. Case Management:
Y.O.U. assists families who struggle with problems such as abuse, neglect, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, and substance abuse. We help them access and navigate other agency and governmental services that can provide the support they need. Individual, group, and family counseling:Licensed Social Workers, Counselors, and Marriage and Family Therapists provide individual, group, and family counseling to youth and their families who need help in coping with chronic family conflict, the difficult transitions of adolescence, loss, depression, development of social skills, and anxiety.
